I live in the US and I make phone calls to mobile/cell phone numbers in Kenya.
Over the years I have been using different calling card companies to make the calls.
If anyone has any good or bad experiences with TelephoneKenya.com I would like to know about your experience.

Robert Melkonyan asked:
In the battleground of the communications industry really is there are many choices for the consumer to make and since everyone’s situation is different there is not a single choice that will be the perfect fit for everyone which is why no way no one can of technologies and programs are available to those who want to communicate with their families in other countries will always give the consumer an advantage.
When it comes to communications of the consumer really has three choices:
Using a traditional landline
Using a voice over Internet protocol device (VOIP)
Using telephone calling cards
However, today we’re going to compare voice over IP to calling cards. Before we dive into the comparisons we must first understand what voice over IP really is. Voice over IP was a technology developed around the web in which a modem transforms a set of data (documents, voice, video, etc.) and sends it over the web in the form of packets of information which are then rebuilt by the receiving party through a modem but that is not all, there usually is a third party involved which facilitates and coordinates the connections being made and it is this third party management that sometimes slows down Internet communications.
Matching the quality of a land-line has been a very hard task for companies that offer voice over IP communication services because in order to get a true 1:1 quality comparison both the caller and the person receiving the call must have a high-speed Internet connection otherwise the quality will become compromised and as a result people will often notice interruptions while they’re talking or unwanted echoes.
On the other hand, we use a calling card a similar mechanism is employed but instead of routing all the communications through the web the signal goes through a land-line to a server which in term makes the connection with the receiving party. Since the communication doesn’t have to be split into packets of data very little lag is introduced by the coordinating server thus allowing for a better experience.
When we compared prices between voice over IP plans and calling cards one has to think about how much or how often one calls his relatives, if you are one of those people who calls once or twice a month then your best bet is to go with calling cards but if you call every other day didn’t go in with a phone company which provides a voice over IP package with a certain amount of minutes per month would be a good idea.
One more thing you should consider is that if you decide to go with a VOIP program then it is very likely that you’re going to have to sign a contract and before such contract becomes effective the company may also perform a credit inquiry to determine whether or not additional fees will have to be charged.

Vanessa A. Doctor asked:
Probably one of the most practical methods of keeping in touch with your family, kids, employees and friends, without the need to pay skyrocketing phone charges at the end of the month, is to have a prepaid phone card.
Most people generally have been using phone cards have found out that using it for long distance calling really does make sense. Prepaid phone cards have various practical uses.
Call Long-Distance At Affordable Rates
If you find it hard to get a good long distance phone service at a affordable cost, then prepaid phone cards can surely help you out. These prepaid cards can be the answer to your needs for a lot of reasons. With prepaid phone cards, you pay as you go so there will never be a chance that you have to pay for huge monthly long-distance phone bills.
As long as you charge your long distance calls on your phone card, expect that you only have to pay for basic service. However, you have to first go through the motions of dialing the phone card number before you can make a call.
Get Prepaid Phone Card From Reputable Providers
If you’re the type of person that uses, and also gives prepaid phone cards so that your kids, friends or co-workers can keep in touch with you, ensure that the cards are bought from trusted and reputable companies. It is expected that you’ll find some prepaid phone cards undesirable due to their busy signals.
Which means that, when you call in, you will hear a recording that says the circuits are all busy at the moment and you should try to call up again later. This kind of phone cards can’t do any good especially if the call is very important or urgent and you are unable to contact someone. There are cards that allow you to recharge its amounts every now and then, so that you and your family can call you up anytime.
Prepaid Phone Cards Offer Ease Of Use
The next best thing afforded by using prepaid phone cards is that it offers customers the ease of use. Prepaid phone cards can be used at home, on payphones, in hotel rooms and lobbies, and just about anywhere there is a standard phone service. By following the standard, yet simple instructions on the back of each card, the caller can enjoy the benefits of using prepaid phone cards on a pay phone without using a lot of coins.
The high charges that accompany with using a pay telephone are also avoided. A prepaid phone card’s per-minute rate and amount of time are also dependent on the card’s Denomination, since these are usually determined by the merchant. Connection charges may apply depending on where the card was purchased. Domestic rates per minute apply for long distance calls placed anywhere within the U.S mainland 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week.
Overseas rates are variably higher than domestic calls. The amount of time available for a particular overseas destination will be provided with use of the card. When the international number is dialed, but before the call is connected, a voice prompt tells the user how many minutes are left.
